Are dental crowns necessary in certain situations?

What are the steps involved in restoring a tooth with a crown?

In the case of root canal treatment or similar treatment, which requires the restoration of part of the tooth, first and foremost, the medical treatment is completed. Basically, the core of the problem (acute inflammation that needs to be treated urgently, etc.) must be treated. In order to build a crown that fits well with the adjacent teeth and the entire jaw, the tooth is sharpened in preparation for the crown, and precise measurements are taken.

When crowns are made professionally, it is almost impossible to tell the difference between them and a patient’s own teeth. Until the crown is prepared in the laboratory according to the exact measurements, a temporary crown is placed on the tooth. Once the crown is measured and fits perfectly, it will be secured on the existing base for a complete and perfect restoration.

If a crown is needed on one of the back teeth, porcelain crowns with metal domes are usually used, which are stronger and more durable.
